Colorado Watercolorist GENE YOUNGMANN has been painting transparent watercolors since 1981 along the Front Range Mountains west of Denver. Youngmann’s subject of choice is Colorado landscapes, vintage automobiles and aging architecture. He is a retired high school art teacher, having taught drawing for twenty-five years at Golden High School in Jefferson County Schools. Youngmann is a signature member of the Colorado Watercolor Society, the Rocky Mountain National Water media Society, the San Diego Watercolor Society International and the Western Colorado Watercolor Society. He has served as CWS President, 2005-2007, and serves as the CWS Delegate to the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies.

Youngmann is a plein air painter, painting 90 percent of his work on location during the warmer months and participates in plein air events yearly. His paintings are regularly displayed in International, National, Regional and Local exhibitions. His paintings are included in many private and corporate art collections, most recently the Colorado School of Mines President’s Office in Golden, CO. Since 2009, Youngmann has been a member of the co-op art gallery, Georgetown Gallery in Georgetown, Colorado, were his artwork can be seen on display and you can visit with him three days a month as he sits the gallery.
